I participated in this year’s GGC remotely at London Game Jam GGJ23.
Adam Clewes-Boyne developed this game, and it allowed me to embark on a completely new experiment and compose music in a genre that was unfamiliar to me until then.
I had an incredible amount of fun doing it! And if you want to know more, you can try it out here: https://adamb1234.itch.io/root-access
What is Root Access all about?
Our 5 robot students are preparing to finish robot school, but next up is the toughest class of all: security testing! One of our bots has been injected with a virus which they can pass on by interfacing with the other bots.
When the virus is in you, you have to „tag“ another bot to pass it on. To help the infected bot, the virus gives them „root access“ and grants special abilities like speed boosts, cloaking powers, and range attacks.
To avoid being tagged, the other bots have to run away, set up traps, and use their environment to keep their distance. At the end of the round, whoever has spent the least amount of time with the virus is the most secure robot and passes the test!
